Privacy policy

This policy explains what information EdgeNote, made by uziapps, uses and why. In short: your notes stay on your PC, and we only handle what we need to run your trial, your subscription and the features you choose to use.

Your notes

Notes, spreadsheets, checklists and widget contents are stored on your own PC. We do not upload them, read them or have access to them.

If you choose to share a note, that note is encrypted on your PC and sent through our server to the person you share it with. We cannot read shared notes.

Trial and licence

• To run the 15-day trial fairly, the app sends us a one-way scrambled identifier for your PC (not your name or files) and the date it was first used.
• When you subscribe, we store your email address, your licence key, your PayPal subscription ID and its status, and scrambled identifiers for the PCs you activate.
• The app checks your licence with our server from time to time. Your IP address is used for a short time to limit abuse and is not kept with your licence.

Payments

Payments are made through PayPal. We never see or store your card or bank details. PayPal tells us when a payment is made, a subscription is cancelled or a refund is given. See PayPal's own privacy policy for how they handle your data.

Emails

We email your licence key to the address you subscribed with, and send it again if you ask. We do not send marketing emails.

Messages in the app

At start-up the app may ask our server for a current message, such as news or an offer. It tells the server only whether you are using the trial or a subscription, and the app version. We count how many times a message is shown or clicked, without recording who.

Feedback and updates

• If you send feedback from the app, we receive your message, the email address you enter (if any), your app version, a technical description of the app's browser engine and your IP address.
• The app checks our server for updates and downloads them from it.

Widgets that use the internet

The weather widget sends the place you search for, and its map position, to Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) to get the forecast. The currency converter fetches exchange rates from open.er-api.com. Neither is sent anything else about you.

How long we keep information

We keep licence and subscription records for as long as your subscription is active and for as long afterwards as we need them for accounting and legal reasons. You can ask us to delete your information at any time.
